Why It Matters

An unauthenticated SQL injection vulnerability exists in Sangoma Switchvox SMB Edition 8.3 (104997). The /pa endpoint processes XML content beginning with and directly concatenates the user-controlled PhoneIP value into PostgreSQL queries without sanitization or parameterization. An unauthenticated remote attacker can execute arbitrary SQL statements against the backend PostgreSQL database using a single crafted request, including database operations and remote code execution.

Vendor or catalog guidance (source)

  • CISA KEV: Apply mitigations in accordance with vendor instructions, ensuring compliance with CISA’s BOD 26-04 Prioritizing Security Updates Based on Risk (see URL in Notes) guidance and CISA’s “Forensics Triage Requirements” (see URL in Notes). Follow applicable BOD 26-04 guidance for cloud services or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable. Stakeholders are responsible for evaluating each asset's internet exposure and ensuring adherence to BOD 26-04 patching guidelines.

Known exploitation (source facts)

Only what a source states. Unknown means no source has said either way; it is not "not exploited".

Suggested hunting (rule-based inference)

SecOps Signal recommendation (rule-based inference). These steps are hunting hypotheses from the vulnerability class; they do not state or imply that exploitation occurred here or anywhere.

Matched kev-network-exposure (CVSS AV:N, CISA KEV Listed); sql-injection (CWE-89)

Exposure

  1. Identify assets with the exact CVE and confirm the affected product/version against the advisory.Telemetry: DeviceTvmSoftwareVulnerabilities · KEV listing raises urgency, but inventory is needed to establish local exposure. · Rule kev-network-exposure
  2. Locate the affected application endpoint and confirm its deployed version.Telemetry: Application access logs · The CWE describes a weakness class, not which local endpoint is affected. · Rule sql-injection

Exploitation evidence

  1. Review relevant edge or application access logs for unusual requests around the advisory window.Telemetry: CommonSecurityLog · Log review is a hunting hypothesis; KEV listing alone does not show local exploitation. · Rule kev-network-exposure

Exploitation evidence

  1. Review requests to the affected endpoint for unusual query syntax and response anomalies.Telemetry: Application access logs · Request and error patterns can guide an SQL injection investigation. · Rule sql-injection

Response

  1. Recheck the affected assets after the source-stated mitigation or update is applied.Telemetry: DeviceTvmSoftwareVulnerabilities · A follow-up inventory check verifies local remediation. · Rule kev-network-exposure
